February/ March 2013 - Photojournalism - 2 seminars on basics in Kampala (Uganda)

Participants:

  • 45 photojournalists and sub-editors from "New Vision Publications" in Kampala (Uganda

Aims:

  • Learning how to use the Digital Single Lens Camera properly, including menues and basic setings
  • Learning basics about image digitalisation, photo editing and photo archiving
  • Close the gap between press photographers and sub-editors regarding knowledge about picture treatment

Methods:

  • Lessons with PowerPoint presentations
  • Discussing problems of interaction between the two "camps"
  • Practical assignments/ applying the exposure triangle meaningfully

Contents:

  • Digital camera technology
  • Compositin and design of digital photos
  • Basics of photojournalistic work
  • Introduction into photo editing software/ archiving software

March 2013 - Training of trainers (radio), phase one, in Kampala (Uganda)

Participants:

  • 10 radio broadcasters from New Vision's network stations (Bukedde, Xfm, Rupiny, Etop, Arua One, Radio West)

Aims:

  • After a three-phase training the participating radio staff will be able to do in-house training.
  • The trainers to be will teach their colleagues the theoretical and practicalo aspects of radio journalism - preferably in local languages.
  • In addition to the radio specific knowledge the trainees will be introduced into training for aduults techniques.

Contents:

  • The training consists of three parts/ phases:
  • Two weeks introductory course in march 2013.
  • 6 months E-learning phase: Assignments, evaluated by the German trainer and her local assistant.
  • Two weeks final seminar, testing training abilities in March 2014
