  • 35 photo journalists from "New Vision" publicatins in Kampala (Uganda)

Aim:

  • Introduction of the participants to the use of Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras for making videos
  • Refresher course for press photographers

Course:

  • Lessons including video examples
  • Practical exercises plus assessment
  • Discussion of results

Content:

  • Planning of video clips
  • Basics of filming - terminology
  • Camera settings, sound control
  • Assignment - planning, shooting, presenting and discussing it

Aim:

  • Use mobile phones as reporting tools
  • Bring multimedia content to Vision's website sooner
  • Enhance skills of "Super Reporters" for all platforms
  • Optimize content for consumption on mobiole screen

Course:

  • Demonstrations, presentations, best practice examples
  • Exercises in writing, photography, video shooting & editing on the smartphone
  • Assignments underreal-life conditions
  • Group discussions, feedback and assessment

Content:

  • Introduction of technical equipment and apps
  • How to shoot and edit photographs, video and audio on your phone
  • How to work like a producer-reporter
  • How to write and structure a text for "mobile readers"
  • How to harness the potential of social media
  • Explore chances and limits of a "Super Reporter"

August/September 2015 Kathmandu - 2 Seminars with Metro Traqffic Police FM

Participants:

  • 18 newcomer in radio journalism 10 professional broadcasters

Aim:

  • Continuation of the cooperation between IIJB Alumni Association Nepal (IAAN) and Metro Traffic FM, Kathmandu
  • Teaching the basics (seminar 1) and advanced skills (seminar 2)
  • Applying the new programme scheme an profile

Course:

  • Seminars, discussions and practical assignments
  • Training was done by IIJB trained radio trainers: Mohan Bista, Ghamaraj Luitel, Bhim Atreya, Sanjib Adhikar and Ptramila Manandhar

Content:

  • Writing and speaking for radio - special challenges
  • News, interview, report - strengths and weaknesses
  • Reporting desasters / Traffic awareness / Listener's loyalty

IAAN was the main partner in preparation and carrying out of the training. IIJB radio trainer Angelika Schulze took part in the inaugurationof the seminars and handed over donations from IIJB as well as from private donors.
